Oaklee and Rosie!

2025 was full of adventures for Oaklee and Rosie. Including riding on the beach, horse shows, riding in the Christmas parade for their 3rd time, trail rides, baths, and riding with Mazie and mom for the first time! We asked Oaklee what her favorite thing that she did with Rosie this past year was, and she said riding on the beach and decorating her stall! We can’t wait to see what this year brings for them! 🩷

Including riding on the beach, horse shows, riding in the Christmas parade for their 3rd time, trail rides, baths, and riding with Mazie and mom for the first time! Emma and Dolly!
In February 2025 these two joined as a new partnership and hit the ground running. Successfully competing in the 2” division for MEHJA winning third overall for year end, also earning the title of Champion for Hunter Breeder Horse. Dolly can be a spicy pickle but she has given Emma the confidence, love and growth that every young rider needs. We can’t wait to see what these two accomplish in 2026. ❤️

We both enjoyed many rides in the sunshine (some where she certainly forgot her age haha) and lot of easy evenings grazing with the gorgeous sunsets as our background.

It’s a new adventure for us both, but learning to enjoy the quiet moments we share together has been some of the greatest memories of the year!”

Mackenzie and Folia! “2025 was a year filled many amazing moments for Folia and I! This was her first year into “semi” retirement after her 27th birthday. We both enjoyed many rides in the sunshine (some where she certainly forgot her age haha) and lot of easy evenings grazing with the gorgeous sunsets as our background.

It’s a new adventure for us both, but learning to enjoy the quiet moments we share together has been some of the greatest memories of the year!”

“This year brought a big change for Charlie & Tysie and we couldn’t be more grateful. A new barn filled with supportive staff, encouraging people, and wonderful new friends made all the difference. Watching Charlie grow in confidence and joy alongside her pony has been the highlight of our year. So thankful for this barn family 🤍🐴”

Erin and Sebastian! “This year, Sebastian and I got to spend sometime in Vermont at GMHA where we got to teach the youth about horsemanship and ride with our friends. We also got to compete at a horse show for the first time in 4 years! After having years of issues with the fusion of both his hocks, Sebastian finally healed enough to be cleared for full training with intention to compete at a show. We entered the BN 2phase at Hilltop Equestrian Center and got our best ever score of a 26.56 (A+ type of score). I’m incredibly proud of all that he’s accomplished this year and I’m excited to see what he can do next year.”

Dana and Sid! 2025 was a year of tears, struggle, rehab, and growth for Sid and I. At the end of march Sid underwent kissing spine surgery, so most of the summer was spent rehabbing him. Thankfully he was cleared to start riding in September and we have been slowly getting back. I can’t wait to see what the next year brings for us.

"2024. I was going to opt out of this year’s highlights reel but I feel like I have to do this to move forward.
This year took a turn I never imagined. On Magnum’s 10th birthday, my parent’s called to tell me my mother/best friend had terminal cancer.

I spent her final months taking care of her at her home w my Dad and one of my closest friends.

No one can prepare you for this. Thankfully, I found strength and comfort to get through in spending time with Magnum. It was near impossible to go home and be a wife and mother without that horse time to take the edge off in between caregiving and normal life. Life doesn’t stop when you are in crisis mode even for a minute!

As the days got more difficult and my time to ride was short, I would stand in the sun with Magnum while he happily grazed or bathe him. He didn’t care and was fine to just hang out with me.

Our goals were forgotten, along with all our dressage tests. I’m pretty sure I forgot how to ride, breathe, or function properly. I reached out to Magnum’s old owner (other mother) to ask if he would be ok. She assured me that he had a “good brain” and we would be fine.

When my mom was so very sick and it became awkward talking about the future or the past, I would tell her Magnum stories and show her videos. She would tell me often to “Go ride your horse”. Those words, packed with so much more meaning, for only she knew exactly how freeing and necessary that was for me.

I am ESPECIALLY and FOREVER thankful to my true ride or die friends, Shannon and Morgan. Jessica, my young friend with the old soul. The Barn Babes, and of course the amazing Prince William crew…who would bring coffee, glittery gifts, offer to tack up my horse so I could just “get on like a princess” when time was short or even ride Magnum in a clinic so he did more than just be my best friend. You all mean so much to me! A huge thank you to my equestrian family, including the staff at HKEC and Dr Mike. I know I can be a handful worrying about anything and everything with my Magnum. I appreciate having the great care and support provided. 🙏🏼🥰😍"

Being given rides on some super fun horses like Seamus, Mazie, Tynk, Incalan, and of course, Hank, just meant the world to me.

"Another successful year full of adventures with my four legged kids! Again we call High Knoll home base, but we travel alot! We left just before the real cold and snow got going at the end of January and stayed in Aiken until mid April so we missed that crazy late season snow storm. Borky and I had our usual boot camp full of lessons and competitions in Aiken, even finishing 3rd at Pine Top HT in Georgia. Calloway spent lots of time hacking in the warm sunshine and enjoying a paddock full of grass!
The summer season brought us traveling to more shows and camp in VT! We had great lessons a few times a month, which meant traveling 2 hours away to our instructors! We trained hard to get to our season goal of championships in KY!
Borky, Lexi and I hit the road for KY the last week of August and what an adventure it was! Borky and I competed at the American Eventing Championships with over 1,000 other entries! The temperatures were record highs above 100 degrees all week, but we finished on our dressage score!
The fall season was quieter with fewer shows and lessons. Again both Calloway and Borky attended Equine Affaire in November and were excellent ambassadors for the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation.
Borky and I got to ride in a clinic mid November with Tamie Smith which was an incredible opportunity.
Lexi and I participated in the Rochester Christmas parade with our friends from HK! December is our month of rest before we get going to concore yet another year of adventure.
We love calling HK home and Lexi promises to continue to guard the barn and steal snacks! Borky will continue to be the entertainer and greeting committee and Calloway will continue to pass along his 36 years of wisdom to horses and humans."

Last year we posted highlights of 2023 and really enjoyed seeing everyone so proud of their horses and wanted to do it again this year!

First up is Kaitlyn with Midori 💚 and Honorable Mention for Hank 💙
"2024 was another big year for Midori! She turned 3 this year and isn't the little baby anymore. She is now lightly started undersaddle. We had some fun adventures off property as well!
Hank may not be mine but we spent a lot of time together this year! He put on his brave boy pants and really grew more confident! Lots of trail adventures and fun with friends!
We have the best barn family between all the staff and boarders to make this year even more special ❤️"

Equine Caretaker 🐎

Looking for afternoons (1pm to 7pm) and weekends. Preference to full time but open to part-time. Horse experience is required!
.
Responsibilities include:
• Clean and maintain 2 boarding barns along with the clinic stalls. This would include feeding hay/grain, mucking stalls, outside fencing work, stocking hay/shavings to all barns, etc. Typical barn chores.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs repetitively (wheelbarrows, hay bales, shavings bags, etc)
• Comfortable working in all kinds of weather - from hot summers to cold winter days. We do not get snow days - ponies still need to eat!
